What's new in the Wekiwa District?
Glad you asked! It's Spring and that means it's time for derby's, camporee's, banquet's, volunteer recognition, and most importantly, the selection of volunteers to lead our district! The District Chair and District Commissioner serve a two year term and the time has come for those to postions to be filled once again. Besides those two postions, we have many other positions on our district committee that are vacant in Finance, Training, Advancement, Camping, Activities, or Membership. If you or someone you know would be interested in helping our district succeed, please email our District Executive, Tony Diggs with the name and contact information for that person. We have a Nominating Committee who will select from the names submitted and those persons will be voted on at our district's annual business meeting.
Annual Business Meeting June 19th
We will be having our annual business meeting prior to Roundtable on June 19th at 6:30pm at the Council Office, where elections for Committee members at the District level will take place. If there is someone you think would be an asset to our district, please submit their name via our nomination form (see link below) for the Nominating Committee to consider. All nominations must be received in writing, no later than June 11th to be considered. The Nominating Committee will finalize the slate of officers and members at large that will be voted on at the business meeting. The Committee members eligible to vote consists of current district committee members and Charter Organization Representatives in the Wekiwa district. Once our district elections take place, the information from that meeting will be communicated to the Council Board, who will make the final approvals on June 27th. This is a very important process to the success of any district and if there is anyone who is thinking about helping at the district level, now is the time to step forward.
